BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The SEC announced the women's tennis coaches' preseason poll results Friday and the University of Florida women's tennis team was slated to finish third while Georgia was selected as the overall champion.
The Gators return five starters and welcome the services of two talented freshmen. Florida, which enters the campaign No. 21 in the ITA national rankings, has an infusion of experience and youth with two seniors, two juniors, one sophomore and a pair of freshmen.
Senior McCartney Kessler, a two-time All-SEC selection, figures to lead the way along with key returners junior Marlee Zein and 2019 All-American Ida Jarlskog.
Four-time national champion head coach Roland Thornqvist begins in his 20th season on the court for Florida Monday, Jan. 25 when the Gators welcome Georgia State.
