GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida softball team is set to host Jacksonville for a single midweek contest at 6 p.m. (ET) Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The game will be streamed via the SEC Network+ with Kyle Crooks and Francesca Enea on the call and can also be listened to live on ESPN 98.1FM/850AM WRUF with Tom Collett and Ryan Urquhart.

The Gators (2-0) opened the 2021 season on the road with a doubleheader sweep of a talented USF squad. The Gators outscored the Bulls 21-3 through both games thanks to dominant performances at the plate and quality pitching.

Junior Charla Echols went 6-for-6 with six RBI in the two games with a double, a triple and a home run. The performance not only helped the Gators jump out to a 2-0 start, but she earned herself SEC Player of the Week for the first time of her career. The offensive performance is also the best start by a Florida player in program history over a two-game span.

In the circle, Elizabeth Hightower (1-0) and Rylee Trlicek combined for a one-hit shutout performance in the second game, while Natalie Lugo and Katie Chronister (1-0) held the Bulls offense at bay in the initial game.

Jacksonville (2-0) enters tomorrow's contest after two victories over Boston College. The Dolphins senior ace, Alyssa Bilodeau (2-0), hurled an opening day no-hitter against the Eagles and finished the weekend with 16 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA in just 9.0 innings pitched.

Florida holds the all-time record over Jacksonville with an overall 22-0 mark and 12-0 record at KSP Stadium.
