GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Florida and No. 16 Florida State are set to square-off at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium and Saturday at 6 p.m. in Tallahassee at Joanne Graf Field. Friday's contest will air on the SEC Network, while Saturday's game will stream on the ACC Network Extra.
The matchup with the Seminoles (10-3) will be the first top 25 test of the season for the Gators (13-0). Historically, UF holds a 333-255 record against team's ranked inside the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and a 290-166 record against team's ranked inside the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll.
Florida enters the game after having defeated New Mexico State, 6-2, Wednesday night at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. UF picked up key home runs from
Jaimie Hoover and
Hannah Adams to secure the win over the Aggies.
Florida State has won its last three games with a pair against Florida Gulf Coast, 7-0 & 4-1, and 3-0 decision against Southeastern Louisiana. Elizabeth Mason is currently leading the Seminoles with a .350 average at the plate, while the FSU pitching staff of Caylan Arnold (2.01 ERA), Danielle Watson (2.51 ERA) and Kathryn Sandercock (2.62 ERA) all sport an ERA over 2.00 with at least 20.0 innings pitched.
The Gators pitching staff continues to excel as they hold the second most shutouts nationally with seven and have yet to yield more than five hits in a game to an opponent. The group of

Elizabeth Hightower (0.83),
Rylee Trlicek (0.88) and
Natalie Lugo (1.57) hold the nation's top mark in ERA with a 0.81 with a minimum of 10 games played.
Offensively, the combination of
Hannah Adams,
Cheyenne Lindsey and
Jaimie Hoover has paced the Gators at the plate the past five games. Over that span, Adams is batting .588 and Lindsey is hitting .462 from the leadoff and nine-hole spots of the lineup respectively, while Hoover comes in with a .364 average.
2021 Florida Softball COVID-19 Guidelines
- In accordance with campus guidelines, face coverings (over the nose and mouth) will be required of all guests throughout the entire game, except during times of eating or drinking only.
- Public tailgating and gatherings will not be permitted on UF campus this spring.
- Inside the stadium fans will see new guidelines, signage, and enhanced cleaning procedures throughout.
- Physical distancing with limited seating and capacity will be in effect for all home contests.
