GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Florida is set to host USF in a midweek doubleheader at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. Both games will be streamed via the SEC Network+ with Kyle Crooks and Francesca Enea on the call.
The Gators (27-4) enter the midweek contest with the Bulls (17-7) after they clinched their fourth-straight Southeastern Conference series of the season this past weekend at Georgia.
Florida outscored the Bulldogs 27-6 in the series and dealt UGA their worst loss in program history in the second game where UF defeated UGA 17-1.
Charla Echols paced the Gators offense in the series with a .429 average at the plate, which included three home runs and eight RBI.
USF comes to Gainesville after it took three of the four games it played at Houston and outscored the Cougars 19-5. Georgina Corrick was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for going 2-0 in the circle with 15.0 innings of work and no runs allowed. Corrick also hasn't allowed an earned run over the last 62.1 innings of work and sports a 0.98 ERA.
The Gators and Bulls squared off twice already this season as the two programs opened the year with a doubleheader in Tampa. Florida won the first game 6-3 and followed with a 15-0 win to close out opening day. The final game of the originally scheduled three-game series was postponed due to unfavorable weather and field conditions in the area.
In non-conference action,
Hannah Adams is hitting an outstanding .482 (27-of-56), while
Cheyenne Lindsey follows closely behind with a .434 (23-of-53) average.
Charla Echols (.386),
Kendyl Lindaman (.320) and
Jaimie Hoover (.318) are all batting over .300 outside of SEC play as well.
In the circle, the Gators have held non-conference opponents to a .161 average at the plate and the staff also holds a 1.40 ERA with eight shutouts.
After the midweek doubleheader with USF, Florida continues non-conference action with a pair of games against Western Kentucky and an exhibition with Softball Canada. The Gators and the Hilltoppers will play Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. on the SEC Network + and against Canada Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
