Friday, July 30, 2021 | Track and Field
TOKYO – Gators greats Lloydricia Cameron (Jamaica) and Taylor Manson (USA) made their Olympic debut Friday morning inside Olympic Stadium in Tokyo as track and field events kicked off this week at the highly anticipated 2020 Olympic Games.
Team USA's 4x400-meters relays mixed team, which featured Mason running third leg, crossed first in heat one and finished third overall with a time of 3:11.39. Although the team was disqualified at first due to an out-of-zone exchange infraction between legs one and two, it was later reinstated following an appeal and advanced to the finals with an automatic qualification.

Cameron was the first track and field Gator representative at the Olympics, appearing in the women's shot put. The Jamaican finished 12th in her group and 22nd overall with a mark of 17.43 meters (57 feet, 2.25 inches).
Two-time Olympian Andres Arroyo closed the first day of competition among Gators Friday evening after running the 800 meters inside Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.
Representing Puerto Rico, Arroyo posted a time of 1:53.09 in the 800 meters to finish in 45th place and exit the games.
The action continues Saturday with Marquis Dendy competing in the men's long jump starting at 6:10 a.m. ET. Genevieve LaCaze Gregson (Australia - 3000mS) and Yanis David (France - Long Jump) will also start competition Saturday.
