
Holloway, Fahnbulleh Advance to Finals in Tokyo

TOKYO – Gators Great Grant Holloway (USA) made his Olympic debut and advanced to the 110-meter hurdles finals, while Florida Standout Joseph Fahnbulleh (Liberia) secured a spot in the 200 meters finals Tuesday inside Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.
Holloway, who had breezed through the first round of the 110-meter hurdles Tuesday morning with a first-place finish in 13.02 [-0.1] seconds, repeated in the evening during the semifinals. The reigning world outdoors champion clocked a time of 13:13 [-0.1] seconds to secure his spot in the finals, scheduled for Wednesday at 10:55 p.m. ET (Live Stream).
Meanwhile, Fahnbulleh finished fourth overall with a time of 19.99 [-0.4] seconds, earning an automatic qualification and breaking the Liberian national record. The 2021 NCAA Outdoor Champion will be seen in 200 meters final Wednesday at 8:55 a.m. (Live Stream).
Gators Great Eddie Lovett (Virgin Islands) also competed in the first round of 110-meter hurdles, finishing 37th with a time of 14.17 [-0.2].

The action continues from Tokyo Wednesday morning when Gators Greats Cory McGee (USA) and Genevieve LaCaze Gregson (Australia) compete in the 1,500 meters semifinals (6 a.m. ET - Live Stream) and the 3,000-meter steeplechase final (7 a.m. ET - Live Stream), respectively. They will be followed by Fahnbulleh in the 200 meters.
In addition to Holloway, Will Claye (USA) will also have an opportunity to win a medal Wednesday evening. The three-time Olympic medalist will compete in the triple jump final at 10 p.m. ET. That event can be streamed live here.
Overall, a track and field program-record 14 present and past Gators qualified to the Tokyo Olympics.
