Kessler Collects Three Wins in W25 Fort Worth Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas – After dominating the first two rounds of the qualifying draw, graduate McCartney Kessler advanced into the main draw of the W25 Fort Worth tournament this past week.
The Calhoun, Ga., native earned a spot in the main draw after winning two matches. Her first-round match against ITF No. 674 player and No. 2-seed in the qualifying draw, Mananchaya Sawangkaew, took only two sets to secure the victory.
Kessler won the first set in a close battle, 7-6 (2), then overpowered her opponent in the second set, 6-2, to claim the first-round match.
In the second round of qualifying, the ITA No. 4 singles player took it to Jada Myii Hart, defeating the No. 15-seed in two demanding sets, 6-1, 6-2, to secure a place in the main draw.
Kessler went on to the second round of the main draw after winning a battle against Solymar Colling, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, before dropping the next match to ITF No. 574 player, Kayla Day.
The Gators open their fall season today at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
