Brenton Cox Jr., O’Cyrus Torrence Named to Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List

The Lombardi Award honors a college football offensive or defensive lineman who best exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame Coach Vince Lombardi
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida linemen Brenton Cox Jr. and O'Cyrus Torrence has been named to the midseason Rotary Lombardi Award 2022 Watch List.
The Rotary Lombardi Award® is awarded annually to the college football offensive or defensive lineman, who in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame Head Coach Vince Lombardi.
Torrence has started six games this season and is the highest graded guard in the nation according to PFF. The Greensburg, Louisiana native also earned AP Preseason All-American status prior to this season. Florida's offensive line is tied for second in the country in tackles for loss allowed per game with 3.14. The Gators' line has also helped paved the way as the program is second in the FBS with 6.36 yards per carry.
Cox Jr. leads the team in TFLs (8), quarterback hurries (8) and is tied for second with two sacks for a total loss of 14 yards. His eight TFLs rank second in the SEC as he was named the SEC Co-Defensive Lineman in week one behind a career-best 10 tackles in the Gators' victory over No. 7 Utah. In 32 career games with Florida, he has posted 98 career tackles, 28.5 TFLs, 12.5 sacks and 38 quarterback hurries.
