Gators Ready for Midweek Matchups with Dolphins

Florida will travel to Jacksonville Tuesday for a single game at 6 p.m., then turn around to host the Dolphins Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
 
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida softball team is set to take on Jacksonville for a pair of midweek matchups as the team travels Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game at the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex, then will turn around to host the Dolphins Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for its home opener.

The Gators (4-0) concluded the USF – Rawlings Invitational defeating Illinois State, Kansas City, USF and No. 16/13 Michigan with three by way of shut out and only allowed one run over the four-game span. Senior Elizabeth Hightower (Monticello, Fla.) went 3-0 on the weekend, while freshman Lexie Delbrey (Bainbridge, Ga.) earned a save in her first collegiate appearance and turned in a complete-game, one-hit, shutout of the Wolverines in her first career start.

Offensively, Florida batted .306 (34-for-111) and was paced by fifth year senior Hannah Adams (Hoschton, Ga.) and Kendra Falby (Odessa, Fla.). Falby batted .545 (6-for-11) and Adams hit .500 (6-for-12), while Skylar Wallace (Woodstock, Ga.) hit .357 (5-for-14) and Cheyenne Lindsey (Chattanooga, Tenn.) hit .308 (4-for-13).

Additionally, Florida was 9-for-10 on stolen base attempts throughout the weekend with Falby (4), Wallace (3) and Adams (2) accounting for the swipes.

Jacksonville (0-4) enters the weekend after hosting the River City Leadoff. The Dolphins were outscored by N.C. State, Western Carolina and Campbell by a combined score of 32-4. At the plate they are led by Tatianna Davis, who is batting .375 (3-for-8) and were represented in the circle by Skylar Whitty and Shelby Harpe.
