Monday, March 21, 2022 | Football
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – An impressive list of NFL coaches and prominent sport professionals headline the Gators Chalk Talk.
The three-day event kicks off on Thursday and serves as a coaches clinic welcoming middle school and high school coaches. Gators Chalk Talk will feature twenty guest speakers ranging from NFL assistant and head coaches along with scouting directors, dietitians, strength coaches and more.
One of the speakers is Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule. During his time at Baylor and Temple, Rhule proved he's capable of rebuilding college programs and guiding teams to success. In 2019, Rhule was named the Chuck Neinas Big 12 Coach of the Year and took the Bears to just its second-ever appearance in the Sugar Bowl.
Eleven current NFL assistants will be in attendance representing nine different NFL teams, including Matt Nagy (Kansas City Chiefs senior assistant/quarterbacks coach) who spent four seasons as the head coach of the Chicago Bears and was the 2018 AP NFL and PFWA Coach of the Year.
Veteran coaches Bobby April and Larry Zierlein bring championship experience to the panel. April coached in the NFL for 25 years helping the Pittsburgh Steelers to a conference championship in 1995 and St. Louis Rams in 2001. During his tenure with the Buffalo Bills, he received the Special Teams Coach of the Year award in 2004 and 2008. Zierlein served as an offensive line coach in the NFL for 13 years and helped the Pittsburgh Steelers win the Super Bowl in 2008.
Other attendees in the sports industry are Joey Blake, director of performance nutrition/wellness for the Super Bowl Champion L.A. Rams and executive director of the Senior Bowl, Jim Nagy, and assistant director of college scouting for the Denver Broncos, Nick Schiralli.
