Gators Defeat Dogs 3-1-1, Advance to Semifinals vs. Texas A&M

Ricky Castillo clinched the match with a 3&2 victory to advance Florida to the semifinals at 2:20 p.m. today.
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The Florida men's golf team defeated No. 6 Georgia 3-1-1 in th quarterfinals of the SEC Championship on Saturday and will take on No. 2 Texas A&M in the semifinals at 2:20 p.m. later today. The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
The Gators advanced to the semifinals for the third time in program history since the match play format was added to the conference tournament in 2017. Florida is seeking its first win all-time in semifinals after losses to Vanderbilt (3-2) in 2017, who won the SEC and runner-up Alabama (3-1-1) in 2018.
Yuxin Lin gave Florida a great start winning his first two holes to go 2-up. John DuBois followed shortly with wins on 12 and 13 to go 2-up to give the Gators a 2-0-3 lead as all five players were on the course. Lin secured the first point as he won three straight holes (1-3) to start the turn and back-to-back birdies from the lefty won his match 5&3. He only dropped two holes during his match - 1 and 18.
After his historical day yesterday, DuBois gave the Gators a 2-0 advantage with 2&1 win with a par on 17. The Bulldogs grabbed a point back with a 4&3 victory in the Tyler Wilkes and Trent Phillips match.
Trailing a stroke at the turn, Ricky Castillo tied it with a par on three and took the next two to go 2-up thru 14. Both he and his opponent halved six for the match clinching victory 3&2.
Fred Biondi's match was left unfinished and tied as both were on eight when Castillo won.
