No. 9 Gators Head to Baton Rouge for Top 20 SEC Series

UF and LSU are knotted at 35-35 in the all-time standings.
BATON ROUGE, La. – The ninth-ranked Florida softball team is set to take on No. 19 LSU for a three-game series in Baton Rouge, La. at Tiger Park this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. UF and LSU are knotted at 35-35 in the all-time standings, with LSU holding the edge at 17-13 when playing at Tiger Park.

The Gators (36-12, 11-10 SEC) enter this weekend's contest against the Tigers (31-17, 10-8 SEC) after a successful midweek against Stetson. The Orange & Blue pitching staff of Lexie Delbrey, Rylee Trlicek and Elizabeth Hightower combined to tie the program's season-high in strikeouts with 11 and posted a season-low zero walks.

Offensively, redshirt-junior Skylar Wallace leads the team with a .403 (52-of-129) average at the plate, has 60 runs scored and 37 walks, along with nine doubles, four triples and five home runs. Wallace is only one of two players in the nation to have 50 hits and at least 55 runs scored this season as Sydney McKinney (Wichita State) is the only other player to post those numbers.

Freshman Kendra Falby was named to the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year Top 25 list earlier today. This season, Falby sports a .393 average at the plate with 59 hits, 45 runs scored, 22 RBI, 28 stolen bases and 11 total extra base hits that includes an inside-the-park home run.

When compared to her freshmen peers, Falby leads all SEC freshmen in batting average, hits, runs scored and stolen bases.

Over the last 10 games, seniors Cheyenne Lindsey and Charla Echols have posted batting averages of .310 and .308 respectively with a combined 13 RBI and five extra-base hits.

The Tigers are led at the plate by Danieca Coffey (.395), Ciara Briggs (.389) and Taylor Pleasants (.331). The trio leads the team in hits with 62, 61 and 48 respectively, while Georgia Clark paces their squad with 56 RBI and 32 walks.

In the circle, Ali Kilponen leads their pitching staff with a 2.25 ERA over 127 2/3 innings pitched with 120 strikeouts and a .214 opposing batting average.
