Florida also collected its 17th ITA All-Academic Team Award.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women's tennis squad got in done in the classroom yet again, picking up its 17th overall Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award, and its 12th in a row dating back to the 2011 season, after boasting a team GPA of 3.75 for the 2021-22 academic year.
An impressive eight Gators –
Sydney Berlin,
Carly Briggs,
Sara Dahlstrom,
Emily De Oliveira,
Alicia Dudeney,
McCartney Kessler,
Bente Spee and
Marlee Zein – were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes.Â
Not only did the Gators excel in the classroom, but also on the courts. Putting together a 21-7 overall record and a 10-3 SEC record, the Gators made a Super Regional appearance for the first time since 2017, while Kessler picked up SEC Player of the Year honors.Â
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
