LAST TIME OUT
Florida swept the Tar Heel Invitational behind Maisie Filler's first collegiate victory. The Gators shot a 54-hole score of 848 (-16) to mark back-to-back team titles and won the tournament by eight strokes. UF was one of two teams (Auburn, -8) to shoot under par at Governors Club. It also marked the 30th victory under head coach Emily Glaser and the 7th lowest team tournament total
Filler shot a score of 13-under 203, which tied the second lowest individual tournament score in program history for the second time in her career - one stroke away from the record of LPGA Tour Player Sam Wagner set in 2016. In round three, Filler recorded her second round in the 60s (69, -3) for all three under par this week. Across her 54-holes, she made 33 pars, 16 birdies and one eagle. In the opening round the Palm Beach Gardens native recorded the second lowest round in UF history with a bogey-free 64 (-8). Filler has finished 1st and T2 in the last two tournaments. She earned SEC Golfer of the Week for her performance.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Florida last made its appearance in the event in the fall of 2021 and took 2nd with a team-score of 12-under. Maisie Filler also finished runner-up and tied the all-program history for low individual tournament at 203 (-13) for the first time in her career.
STRONG DEBUT
Freshman Sophie Stevens had a collegiate debut to remember as the Highland, Michigan native finished a team-best T15. In her first round she posted a bogey-free 66 (-5) and later added a 69 (-2) in round three to end 5-under overall.
In her second tournament she placed T7 and finishing with a 54-hole score 216 (E) en route to being named SEC Freshman of the Week.
ONE LAST TIME
The trio of Marina Escobar, Annabell Fuller and Jackie Lucena all returned for their fifth and final collegiate season heading into the 2023-24 campaign. This will be their third season together as Lucena joined the program in 2021 as a transfer from UC Davis.
A SEASON AGO
Florida defended its home tournament for the eighth straight year under Glaser and for the 26th time overall at the 51st Gators Invitational in the 2022-23 season. The Gators also qualified for the NCAA Regionals for the 11th straight season after making match play in back-to-back seasons and fourth time in program history since the format was added in 2018.
Glaser worked with Annabell Fuller, who earned her third straight All-SEC selection and first Golfweek All-American honor in addition to a third All-American Scholar accolade.
Outside of the season competition, Maisie Filler was invited to the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) for the first time in her career. It marked the fifth player under Glaser to play in the prestigious event as she has had a selection since the inception of the tournament in 2019.
NEW FACES IN THE ORANGE & BLUE
Four new Gators joined the program this year in Georgia Southern transfer Sarunchana Rattanasin and freshmen Ines Archer, Paula Francisco and Sophie Stevens.
THE TURN
Florida will begin the spring season at Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif from Feb. 4-6.
