Gators Conclude 2023 Pan American Games with Gold & Silver Medals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida softball's four members helped lead their respective countries to gold and silver medal finishes at the 2023 Pan American Games that were held this past week in Santiago, Chile.
Florida head coach Tim Walton, who serves as an assistant coach with USA Softball, and four-time NFCA All-American Amanda Lorenz helped lead USA Softball to a 10th Pan American Games gold medal. Team USA went undefeated this year and outscored its opponents 60-8 over six games played.
Lorenz capped off her international performance with 2-for-3 performance that included a double, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in the gold medal game against Puerto Rico.
Ocasio, a two-time NFCA All-American at Florida, led Puerto Rico to a first-place finish in the group stage of the competition and sent her country to the gold medal game against Team USA thanks to a seven-inning, 1-0, shutout of Mexico in the Super Round. The silver medal finish for Puerto Rico was the first for the country in 28 years.
