
Carter's Corner: Napier, Norvell and NIL, Sully Previews Season, More Gators Tidbits

So, in the spirit of helping you keep up here in our little corner of the internet, here are some notable items heading into a busy weekend:
-- Gators head coach Billy Napier joined FSU coach Mike Norvell in Tallahassee on Thursday as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a new NIL (name, image and likeness) bill into law. Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times with more about the state's latest development in the NIL space.
Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin: "We are thankful for the governor and the legislature for making this NIL bill a reality. We continue to be appreciative of all opportunities that our athletes have to be compensated for their name, image and likeness. NIL is a key ingredient to the Gators' current and future success, and UF is fortunate to have a passionate and engaging fan base that cares about the success of our athletes."
Two years ago, FL became one of the first states in the nation to permit student-athletes to be compensated for use of their names, image & likeness.

-- The Dallas Cowboys are adding former Gators defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd as an assistant defensive line coach and defensive analyst. Floyd, Minnesota's first-round draft pick in 2013, played for the Gators from 2010-12 and returned to campus as a student assistant coach in 2021. Here is more on Floyd to the Cowboys from the Dallas Morning News. Best of luck to Sharrif, who is rejoining former Gators defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in Dallas.
