CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The third-ranked Florida softball team fell, 10-0 (5 innings), to No. 1 UCLA Thursday evening during the first day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
The Gators (10-1) suffered their first loss of the season and the first to a ranked opponent in the Bruins (13-0).
Rylee Trlicek (4-1) received the start in the circle against UCLA's Megan Faraimo (8-0).
The Bruins offense tallied 10 runs on 12 hits, while Faraimo limited the Orange and Blue to just one walk with nine strikeouts.
Florida returns to action at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Friday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. (ET) with a contest against UC Riverside.
