Swim and Dive Holds End of Season Banquet

Florida Swim and Dive celebrated a historic 2022-23 season Sunday
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Swim and Dive team celebrated a historic 2022-23 campaign Sunday inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
For the ninth time in program history, and first time in 30 years, both the men's and women's team won SEC Championships during the same season. The Gators are the first SEC team to sweep both titles in the same year in 15 years.
Florida men finished sixth at the NCAAs last month in Minneapolis. The Gators broke three NCAA relay records and won four national championships.
The women set three school relay records during the NCAA and SEC Championships this spring.
The men had 14 athletes earn 42 All-Americans, while the women notched 28 All-American honors from 11 different athletes. Between the two squads, 25 made the All-SEC teams.
Joshua Liendo and Zoe Dixon were named SEC Freshman Swimmers of the Year, while head coach Anthony Nesty became only the second Florida coach in program history to win both SEC Men's and Women's Swimming Coach of the Year in the same season (Randy Reese, 1990).

Giovanni Linscheer Award: Macguire McDuff, Mabel Zavaros
Contributed the most to the overall success of the team and displayed dedication, leadership, good attitude, and performance.
Donald Gibb Award: Aleksas Savickas, Aris Runnels
Performed above and beyond expectations.
Skip Foster Award: Joshua Liendo, Emma Weyant
Most valuable swimmer award
Tracy Caulkins (Female) Award: Zoe Dixon
Freshman Award based upon performance at SEC's & NCAA's. Exemplifies the competitive spirit of Tracy Caulkins, i.e. dedication, tenacity, and a great will to win.
Tiger Holmes Outstanding Freshman (Male): Joshua Liendo
Awarded to an outstanding freshman male and is given based up his performance at the SEC & NCAA Championships. This individual exemplifies the competitive spirit.
Tyler Silver Leadership Award: Alberto Mestre, Kathleen Golding
Awarded to a Senior Gator whose leadership has been instrumental to the team's overall success.
Academic Award: Jace Crawford – GPA: 3.63 Construction Management, Amanda Ray – GPA: 3.89 Biology Pre-Health
In recognition of academic excellence
Gator Award: Jake Mitchell, Micayla Cronk
Spirit Award. Recipient embodies what a Florida Swimmer/Diver is: postivie energy, enthusiasm, leader, etc.
Bill Harlan Diving Award: Leonardo Garcia, Maha Amer
Diving Award – Diver who has brought national recognition to the University of Florida.
Gator Spirit Award: Karl Ambrose & Joseph Ambrose – Aquatic Maintenance
For outstanding support for the UF Swimming and Diving Department, i.e., officials, Splash member, volunteer, parent.
