Men's basketball associate head coach Carlin Hartman has been named to the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023, Tulane announced.
Hartman, who joined Florida's coaching staff in 2022, tallied 1,180 points and 538 rebounds over his four years at Tulane (1990-94), and his .526 career field goal percentage still ranks fourth in program history.
The Buffalo, N.Y., native posted six points and 11 rebounds in Tulane's first all-time NCAA Tournament win in 1992, a victory vs. St. John's. Hartman and the 1991-92 team previously went into the Hall of Fame as a team in 2020.
Hartman earned recognition as a member of Tulane's 1990s All-Decade Team, and during his freshman campaign he earned Metro Conference All-Freshman honors.
"This class consists of some of the finest Tulanians in our history," Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen said. "These inductees boast accomplishments that are truly admired by everyone in the Green Wave family."
In Hartman's first season at Florida, the Gators notched a win vs. #2 Tennessee, matching the highest-ranked win both in regular season win and at home win in Florida history. The Gators also topped #20 Missouri and defeated rival Florida State in Tallahassee, as the Gators staged a 19-point comeback – fourth-largest in program history – to earn the team's first road win in the series since 2012.
Under Hartman's tutelage, Colin Castleton earned first-team All-SEC and All-Defensive Team honors and was named USA Today's SEC Defensive Player of the Year. Castleton set a Florida record and ranked third in the nation with 3.0 blocked shots per game, and the Gators' 5.18 blocked shots per game ranked eighth in the nation.
The Gators found an identity on the defensive side of the ball last season, climbing into the top 10 in KenPom's defensive efficiency ratings during the course of the season prior to Castleton's injury.
Hartman and the Class of 2023 will be honored in New Orleans this September.
