Baseball Places Program-Record 27 Gators on SEC Academic Honor Rolls

Florida boasts 19 players on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and another eight on the First-Year Honor Roll.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida baseball team placed 19 student-athletes on the 2023 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll and another eight players on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Thursday and Friday by league commissioner Greg Sankey.

Baseball's 27 total student-athletes on SEC Academic Honor Rolls (Regular and First-Year) mark a new program record. Meanwhile, Florida's 19 players on the SEC Academic Honor Roll represents the program's second-highest total ever behind the 2021 squad (21).

Of Florida's 27 honorees, three earned 2023 All-America honors in Wyatt Langford (First Team), Jac Caglianone (First Team) and Josh Rivera (Second Team). Two Gators Freshman All-Americans received First-Year Academic Honor Roll accolades in Cade Fisher and Cade Kurland. Kurland also earned a 4.0 grade point average in his first year at UF, as did teammate Salvy Alvarez.

The 2023 SEC Spring Academic Honor Rolls are based on grades from the 2022-23 summer, fall and spring terms. Grades from the 2022-23 academic year determine the 2022 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. In total, Florida had 322 student-athletes on 2022-23 SEC Fall (113), Winter (72) and Spring (137) Academic Honor Rolls and another 80 student-athletes to the First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

The announcements set Florida's record for total of student-athletes named to a 2022-23 SEC Academic Honor Rolls at 402. The previous record of 378 was set in 2020-21 and equaled last season.
