Gators Trio Included in PG’s Top-100 Juniors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Perfect Game ranked three Florida baseball players as top-100 juniors in college baseball last week in first baseman/left-handed pitcher Jac Caglianone, left-hander Pierce Coppola and outfielder Michael Robertson.
Caglianone led the trio by taking the No. 8 spot while Coppola (No. 75) and Robertson (No. 98) rounded out Florida's representation on the list. As a result, the Gators placed 13 total players on Perfect Game's rankings of top freshmen (five), sophomores (five) and juniors (three).
Top 100 Juniors
No. 8 – 1B/LHP Jac Caglianone
No. 75 – LHP Pierce Coppola
No. 98 – OF Michael Robertson
Coming off a Unanimous First Team All-American campaign that saw him finish as a Golden Spikes Award finalist, Caglianone belted a program-record and nation-high 33 homers as a sophomore. The Tampa, Fla. native also drove in a team-record 90 RBI and slashed .323/.389/.739 as the lone Gator to play in and start all 71 contests.
Robertson played in 66 games including 56 starts last season in the UF outfield. Known for his defense and speed, he swiped 11 bags, fielded at a .992 clip and scored 41 runs. Robertson concluded his redshirt freshman campaign with a .231/.360/.280 batting line in 186 at bats.
Although he has not toed the rubber since February of 2022, Coppola enters the spring healthy and ready to contribute to the Florida pitching staff. The southpaw arrived on campus as the No. 50 overall recruit in the class of 2021 and shined in his collegiate debut, throwing 4 1/3 innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts against Liberty on Feb. 20, 2022.
The Gators open up the 2024 season with a three-game series against St. John's spanning from Friday, Feb. 16 through Sunday, Feb. 18 at Condron Family Ballpark.
