No. 3/3 Swimming & Diving Travels to Tampa for Tri-Meet

The No. 3/3 ranked men's and women's swimming teams will race against University of Tampa and Rollins College.
 
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 3/3 men's and women's swim teams' trek to Tampa, Fla. on Friday, Oct. 25 for a Tri-Meet against the University of Tampa and Rollins College. Racing begins at 12:30 p.m. ET inside the Riseman Aquatics Center.

Gators Last Time Out:
The Florida swimming and diving teams kicked off their 2024-25 season with a split win against Virginia on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The No. 3 men topped No. 15 men 231-69, while the No. 3 women's fell 119-181 to the top-ranked and four-straight national champions.
 
The men posted 13 wins in their 14 scored swimming events, while Olympic medalist's Emma Weyant and Bella Sims tallied two first-place finishes on the women's side. Additionally, 18 Gators grabbed the second-place spot in the combined 28 swimming events. 
 
Overall, 12 swimmers made their Gator debut, as freshman Luke Whitlock and Aiden Norman both posted their first collegiate wins in the 800m freestyle (7:47.76) and the 200m backstroke (1:51.02), respectively.
 
On Tampa & Rollins College:
Both programs will make their season debut on Friday, as both teams had their first scheduled dual meet canceled. Tampa's dual meet at North Florida Sprint on Sept. 27 in Jacksonville, Fla. was canceled, while Rollins dual meet versus St. Thomas on Oct. 12 in Tampa, Fla. was canceled as well due to Hurricane Milton.

  • 200 Medley Relay, 1,000 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, 500 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle Relay
Gator Splashes:
  • In CSCAA's rankings released on Oct. 17, both teams ranked No. 3.
  • Following their performances in No. 3 Florida's season opener at No. 1 Virginia on Oct. 18, swimmer Bella Sims and diver Camyla Monroy collect the Gators first pair of Southeastern Conference weekly awards, announced by the league Tuesday afternoon. Sims earns Women's Co-Swimmer of the Week, while Monroy tabs Women's Diver of the Week.
  • Florida returns 14 All-Americans on the men's side, including Adam Chaney, Josh Liendo, Julian Smith and Jonny Marshall. The Gators return 10 All-Americans on the women's side, including Emma Weyant, Bella Sims and Camyla Monroy.  
  • Florida adds a combined 14 newcomers (eight on the men's and six on the women), including two 2024 Paris Olympians. Freshman Luke Whitlock became the youngest male to make U.S. Olympic Swimming roster since Michael Phelps in 2000 after earning a silver medal in the 800 freestyle at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials. On the women's side, freshman Julie Brousseau represented Team Canada in the 4x200 free relay
  • Overall, 15 swimmers and divers represented Florida at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with six currently still competing for the Gators. Representing Team Canada, Josh Liendo won his first Olympic medal in Paris, earning silver in the 100m fly after clocking 49.99. Emma Weyant collected her second Olympic medal in July, adding a bronze medal in the 400m IM. She won silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the event.
