Thursday, November 7, 2024 | Baseball
Roaming center field in the 2024 Meet the Gators series is Freshman All-American Kyle Jones, a transfer joining the squad after a standout season at Stetson. The Athens, Ga. native is set to rep No. 3 for the Orange & Blue.
Before bringing his talents to UF, Jones started 62 games in center for the Hatters and was trusted as the team's leadoff hitter. As a true freshman, he slashed a robust .355/.459/.476 with five homers, 32 RBI and 23 steals while leading the Hatters with 88 hits, 15 doubles and 53 runs scored in 248 trips to the plate. Jones also helped Stetson clinch the 2024 Atlantic Sun Championship, going 8-for-19 to earn ASUN All-Tournament Team honors.
Due to his impactful 2024 season, Jones was named a Second Team Freshman All-American by the NCBWA as well as an NCAA Gold Glove Finalist, ASUN Freshman of the Year, Freshman All-ASUN and All-Conference Third Team. Jones even earned a spot on the NCAA Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament Team, logging a hit in all three games to finish 5-for-12 with two home runs.
Coming out of North Oconee High School in 2023, Jones was a three-year letterwinner under Head Coach Jay Lasley. Across his junior and senior years, the Titans went a combined 73-6 and won back-to-back state titles.
Jones held status as Perfect Game's No. 13 outfielder and No. 73 overall player in Georgia as part of the 2023 class. He also suited up for Team Elite and the Atlanta Braves Scout Team during his prep years, earning 11 different all-tournament team accolades at numerous PG events between 2019-2022.

Huge addition to the transfer portal as Stetson CF Kyle Jones goes in. It's every bit that of a 'plus' runner w/an infinitely projectable frame + borderline elite bat-to-ball skill. He'll be in CF for a blue-blood program in 2025.
