Thursday, December 19, 2024 | Baseball
Receiving the next pitch in the 2024 Meet the Gators series is redshirt junior Cole Bullen. Transferring in from the College of Central Florida, the Belleview, Fla. Native will wear No. 40 in Orange & Blue.
After redshirting in his first year at the College of Central Florida, Bullen played in 95 games as the team's primary starting catcher from 2023-24. Across those two seasons, he slashed .306/.431/.460 in 291 at bats while chipping in nine homers, two triples, 14 doubles, 77 RBI, 70 runs scored and three steals. Collectively, Bullen fielded at a .984 clip over 731 chances and threw out 25 would-be base-stealers for a 27.5% caught-stealing rate.
As a redshirt sophomore last season, the switch-hitter upped his game to the tune of a .315/.448/.500 batting line. That featured four long balls and 10 two-baggers in 44 contests.
In his redshirt freshman year, Bullen hit .298/.415/.429 across 51 games to lift CF to its second-straight state title and first-ever NJCAA National Championship. He concluded the campaign with five taters, four doubles, 42 runs and 39 RBI.
Going back to his prep years, Bullen competed under Head Coach Devin Anderson at Villages Charter High School. As a senior, he helped Villages Charter to a 16-9 record.
Bullen also earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the 2019 Perfect Game 15/16U Sunshine State Championships as a prepster.
