Tuesday, December 3, 2024 | Baseball
Sliding in for the 2024 Meet the Gators series this week is junior infielder/outfielder Justin Nadeau of St. John's, Fla. After two standout seasons at Jacksonville University, the versatile Nadeau will rep No. 1 in Orange & Blue.
Gators fans have already gotten a glimpse of Nadeau, as he started three of four fall exhibitions and also faced off against Florida at Condron Family Ballpark last season as a member of the Dolphins. In his lone game against UF, Nadeau started at second base and went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and one run scored.
As a sophomore at JU last year, Nadeau hit a remarkable .395/.482/.521 for a 1.003 OPS while reaching base in nearly half of his trips to the plate. He totaled 11 extra-base hits highlighted by one homer and eight doubles to go along with 36 runs scored, 28 RBI and 11 steals. It was a well-round season for Nadeau overall, as he made just one error across 100 defensive chances for a .990 fielding percentage.
Collectively, Nadeau slashed .332/.422/.431 across 79 games (78 starts) in his two seasons with the Dolphins. He departed with three home runs, five triples, 12 doubles, 68 runs, 58 RBI and 14 stolen bases on his collegiate resume.
Rewinding back to his prep days, Nadeau was a three-time letterwinner at Bartram high School under Head Coach Ryan Fitzpatrick. In his sophomore-through-junior seasons, Nadeau batted .353 or higher each year. He hit .418/.520/.746 as a junior before posting a .372/.574/.717 line in his final season, as Bartram Trail went 21-9 to improve to 49-18 during his career.
By the time he was finished, Nadeau compiled nine homers, six triples, 16 doubles, 69 runs and 39 RBI on top of a .391/.538/.706 career slash. He also stole 49 bags in 52 attempts for a 94.2% success rate.
As a member of the 2022 graduating class, Nadeau ranked as Perfect Game's No. 261 overall recruit while holding status as the No. 44 player and No. 9 shortstop in Florida. Earning PG Preseason Honorable Mention All-Region from 2020-21, he collected a Preseason Second Team All-Region nod in 2022.
Having also laced up the spikes for Neb National and the Florida Dodgers Scout Team, Nadeau compiled eight sets of all-tournament team honors at PG events from 2017-2022.
