Meet the Gators: Bobby Boser
Monday, January 6, 2025 | Baseball
The 2024 Meet the Gators series draws to a close with one of the team's most impactful offseason transfer additions in senior infielder/outfielder Bobby Boser. Hailing from Wesley Chapel, Fla., the former USF and Wiregrass Ranch High School star will roam Condron Family Ballpark in No. 6 this season.
Coming off a stellar summer in the Cape Cod League, Boser excelled to the tune of a .319/.443/.486 slash in 21 games. Showing off his versaility, Boser saw action at all three outfield spots on top of logging innnings at shortstop, second base and the hor corner. That followed a 2023 Cape League All-Star selection, providing evidence that he has a knack for finding the barrel with both wood and metal.
As one of USF's top all-around players the past three seasons (2022-24), Boser capped off his Bulls tenure with a second-consecutive All-AAC First Team nod last year. He ended his career ranking eighth in program history by blasting 31 career home runs in 127 games.
Before it was all said and done, the advanced slugger slashed .286/.386/.580 with 31 homers, four triples, 17 doubles, 85 RBI, 92 runs and 14 stolen bases across 402 at bats. Boser concluded his USF career with a .981 fielding percentage across 429 defensive chances spread across the diamond.
In his 2024 junior campaign, Boser batted .299/.351/.667 backed by 12 homers despite playing in just 34 contests due to injury. His standout season was highlighted with AAC Player of the Week and NCBWA National Hitter of the Week honors on March 11 and March 12, respectively.
With 15 long balls in 55 games as a sophomore, Boser posted the eighth-most home runs in Bulls single-season history. That was accompanied by a robust .323/.445/.621 batting line.
Reverting to his prep years, Boser held status as a team captain and MVP his final two years at Wiregrass Ranch under Head Coach Marshall McDougall. He was tabbed by Perfect Game as the No. 77 player and No. 14 shortstop in Florida in addition to being ranked as the No. 102 shortstop in the country.
