GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Athlon Sports named ten Florida Gators to the 2024 preseason All-SEC teams, featured in the publication's 2024 College Football Preview Magazine. The group of selected Gators is led by three second-team selections in RB Montrell Johnson Jr., WR Eugene Wilson III and CB Jason Marshall.
Johnson returns for his senior season in 2024 after leading Florida's offense in rushing yards each of the last two seasons. His 817 rushing yards was good for 10th in the conference, and the Louisiana native is one of just two players in that top-10 that will be returning to the conference next season. Johnson was second among SEC running backs in receiving yards in the 2023 season. He has recorded six 100-yard rushing game as a Gator and enters this season with 2,496 career rushing yards with three consecutive seasons of 800-yard plus yards.
Wilson III enters his sophomore campaign in 2024 after emerging as one of the nation's most promising freshman playmakers last season. In 2023, Wilson III caught the ninth-most passes in the conference with 61. He led all SEC freshmen with six touchdowns on his way to a 2023 SEC All-Freshman selection.
Marshall Jr. enters his senior season at Florida after 28-straight starts at CB for Florida over the last three seasons. He led the team with 10 pass breakups in his junior season.
Florida also netted four third-team selections in Austin Barber, Jeremy Crawshaw, Shemar James and Trey Smack. Barber started nine games during 2023, and will return to Florida's offensive line in 2024 after being limited due to injury for part of last season. He started eight games at left tackle a season ago and ranks 10th in by PFF in the highest-graded returning offensive tackles in the SEC for the 2024 campaign.
James, like Barber, was limited due to injury at the end of the 2023 season, playing in eight games as a sophomore. Despite his shortened season, James still placed second on the team in tackles (55.0) and tackles for loss (5.5).
Florida's specialist tandem of Crawshaw and Smack return the team's kicking production from last season. Smack totaled an 81.0 FG%, a perfect 29-29 on extra points and tied the program single-game record with five made field goals vs. Charlotte. Crawshaw leads the conference with a single-season program record 48.9 yards per attempt. He finished with 42 punts last season with seven punts 60-yards or more, a career-best 21 50-yards or more, 15 inside the opponent's 20-yard line and a long of 68 yards. This season he enters as the FBS leader in yards per punt (46.7).

Jackson returns for a second season after totaling 32 tackles (18 solo). Castell led the team in tackles with 60.0, en route to an SEC All-Freshman selection in 2023. Castell played the most defensive snaps played with 660, and was one of two UF players (Marshall Jr. / 651) to play over 600-plus snaps.
