Barlow Ranked in D1Baseball's Top-85 Impact Transfer Pitchers
Wednesday, September 25, 2024 | Baseball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – D1Baseball released its rankings of the top-85 impact transfer pitchers for the upcoming 2025 season, and one new Gator made the list.
Coming in at No. 42, right-handed pitcher Billy Barlow is expected to bolster the UF pitching staff for the 2025 campaign. Arriving from Clemson, who the Gators faced in the 2024 Super Regionals, Barlow will be a redshirt junior, giving him two years of eligibility remaining.
Florida faced Barlow during the 13-inning Game 2 of Supers, which the Gators ultimately won, 11-10, to punch their ticket to the College World Series. Barlow was one of six pitchers to appear for the Tigers during the game. Although he only pitched just two-thirds of an inning, he did not allow any runs to score.
Barlow pitched in 15 games for the Tigers last season, 10 of which were starts. He finished with a stellar record of 6-1 to go with a 4.28 ERA. All told, Barlow left Clemson with a winning mark of 8-6 and a 4.69 ERA across 35 appearances (26 starts) in three seasons with the team, totaling 109 1/3 career innings.
D1Baseball had this to say about Barlow's ranking:
"As usual, Kevin O'Sullivan's Gators will have no shortage of arms entering the 2025 campaign. Barlow, a 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, is a solid addition to that group. Barlow made 10 starts and appeared in 15 games for Clemson last season, tallying a 4.28 ERA in 48.1 innings, along with 42 strikeouts and 20 walks. There's more juice in the tank with Barlow's arm, but last season, he was primarily 90-92 mph with his fastball, along with a mid-80s slider and 82-84 mph changeup."
Barlow and the Gators officially begin fall practice on Monday, Oct. 7 at Condron Family Ballpark with the gates open to all fans.
