Gators to Send Contingent to Two Meets, Officially Open Indoor Slate
Thursday, January 16, 2025 | Track and Field
A two-day meet at Texas Tech will mark the start of Indoor competition for the Gators in 2025, while a group of distance runners will compete in Gainesville.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Florida Gators Track and Field is set to officially begin the 2025 campaign at two meets. The Gators' larger contingent will compete at the Corky Classic, beginning on Friday, January 17 at the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech University. A group of distance runners will represent the Orange and Blue at nearby Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe in the Jimmy Carnes College Track and Field Meet.
The meets mark the beginning of the Gators' hunt for the four NCAA Team Championships set to be contested in 2025. In 2024, the Gator men took home the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, their third consecutive, while the women's team finished runners-up at the NCAA Championship meets during both Indoor and Outdoor season.
Last Time Out
The Gator women have already started their Indoor season, as Hilda Olemomoi began their season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on December 7, 2024. At the meet, Olemomoi became just the third woman in NCAA history to break the 15-minute threshold in the Indoor 5000m, joining Gator Great Parker Valby in the exclusive club, who was the first to run a sub-15-minute 5000m.
