Clayton Named a Finalist for Bob Cousy Award

Florida men's basketball senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. has been selected as a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday.
The Lake Wales, Fla., native leads the Gators with 16.9 points per game, 77 3-point field goals and 113 assists this season. He has led the Gators to their third 25-win regular season in program history, as Florida has spent the last three months ranked in the nation's top 10. With Clayton leading the attack, UF's 16.9 fastbreak points per game ranks in the top three nationally.
Clayton has garnered a wide range of honors for his performance this season, also earning a place on the Naismith and Wooden top 20 teams in February.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting starting on Friday, March 7, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process. Later this month, the finalists will be presented to Cousy and Lieberman and the Hall of Fame's selection committees. The Selection Committees for the Bob Cousy and Nancy Lieberman Awards are composed of top men's and women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
