Thursday, March 12, 2026 | Men's Basketball
Florida junior Alex Condon has been named as a Top 5 finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Thursday.
Condon averages 14.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game with 107 assists and a team-leading 43 blocked shots. He is one of four players nationally and one of two high-major players averaging at least 14 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game (Cameron Boozer, Duke). The 6-foot-11 Condon is just the third Gator standing 6-foot-9 or taller to eclipse 100 assists in a season this century, along with Corey Brewer and Chandler Parsons.
A native of Perth, Australia, Condon posted a one-of-a-kind stat line in the Gators' win vs. No. 23 Alabama this season, becoming the first player this century to post 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and multiple steals and blocks without a turnover against at top-25 opponent.
Condon adds to his list of accolades, already named AP second-team and coaches third-team All-SEC earlier this week. Earlier this season, Condon earned the fourth SEC Player of the Week honor of his career, trailing only Vernon Maxwell (five) in Florida history. He also surpassed the 1,000-point career scoring milestone, now at 1,112 points entering the postseason.
Florida opens play at the SEC Tournament in Nashville at 1 p.m. Eastern on Friday, facing either Missouri, Kentucky or LSU on ESPN.
