COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Has tutored four 3,000-yard passers in 13 seasons coaching college quarterbacks.
  • In nine seasons as a coordinator, his offenses have produced seven individual 1,000-yard rushing seasons – former Gator, Kelvin Taylor (2015) Alabama’s T.J. Yeldon (twice) and Eddie Lacy and Washington’s Chris Polk (three times).
  • Florida has had three true freshman wide receivers record 100-yard receiving games in program history. Two of those three were in the last two seasons. Antonio Callaway achieved that mark in 2015, while Tyrie Cleveland followed his lead in 2016.
  • Keeping with the offense, running back Jordan Scarlett had a streak of six consecutive games with a rushing touchdown (UK-UGA) in 2016, which tied Kelvin Taylor (2015) and Tim Tebow (2009) for the longest streak by a Gator since Percy Harvin did it in the final seven games of the 2008 season.
  • Complementing the ground game, Nussmeier ushered in a passing attack in 2015 that became only the fifth Gator squad since 1996 to throw at least 20 touchdown passes and fewer than 11 interceptions. In addition, UF’s 405 attempts in 2015 were the most by any of the other Gator teams (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009) that accomplished that feat.
  • UF continued that trend in 2016 as the Gators recorded 410 attempts through the air, which was the most by any Gator team since Florida threw the ball 517 times in 2002.
  • Also for the second-straight season, six different Gators collected multiple receiving touchdowns. Prior to 2015, the last time it happened was in 2008.
  • Also in 2015, Florida converted at least 50 percent of their third downs in four games last season (New Mexico State, No. 3 Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, No. 14 Michigan) for the first time since 2010, when they accomplished that feat in five games. On a similar note, by converting all five of their fourth downs against Tennessee -- which was their highest single-game total since 1996 and tied for the third-most by an SEC team during that span -- the Gators became just the fourth SEC team to achieve a 100-percent conversion rate on fourth down, with a minimum of five attempts, since 1996.
    • Moreover, Florida ranked tied for 21st among FBS teams in fourth down conversions (14--UF’s second-highest total since 1996) and were 14th in fourth down conversion percentage (51.9) among FBS teams with 25 attempts.
  • Coached Marc Bulger during the best year of his NFL career in 2006, when he threw for 4,301 yards and 24 touchdowns.
  • Under Nussmeier, Alabama set records for rushing and passing touchdowns, total points scored and total offense during the 2012 national championship season. In addition, the Crimson Tide led the nation in pass efficiency.
  • The 2012 campaign marked the first time in school history that Alabama rushed and passed for 3,000 yards each in a single season.
  • The Crimson Tide continued their offensive efficiency in 2013. Alabama was seventh nationally in pass efficiency and 17th in both scoring offense and third down percentage. The Tide averaged over 200 yards on the ground and through the air. McCarron was eighth in pass efficiency after leading the nation the previous year, and in two seasons under Nussmeier, he passed for 5,996 yards, 58 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions, while completing over 67 percent of his passes.
  • The Washington Huskies offensive unit improved statistically in each of Nussmeier's three seasons. The offense doubled its scoring output during his first season (2009), led by the passing of Jake Locker and running of Chris Polk. The production was better in 2010, with a balanced attack that gained 2,238 rushing yards and 2,475 passing yards. Polk gained 1,415 rushing yards, the second-best total in school history, and Locker completed his career ranked first or second in every major passing category. Locker was the eighth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.
  • In his final season at Washington, the offense scored 57 touchdowns and 434 points to finish with the second-highest totals in school history, behind only the 1991 national championship team. Nussmeier coached first-year starter Keith Price, who set school records for passing TDs, completion percentage and pass efficiency. Price was seventh nationally in pass efficiency and Polk ranked 16th nationally in rushing.
