COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Dixon has spent 12 years coaching the offensive side of the ball, including one season as an offensive coordinator.
  • In program history, Florida has had three true freshman record a 100-yard receiving. Dixon has tutored two of those three players (Tyrie Cleveland, 2016; Antonio Callaway, 2015).
    • Tutored Cleveland to a 124-yard performance at LSU. During that contest, he recorded a 98-yard touchdown reception that ranks as the second longest touchdown passing play in UF history. However, the 98-yard touchdown does stand as the longest touchdown passing play in program lore against an SEC opponent. In addition, Cleveland’s reception stands as the longest play by a true freshman in UF history and the longest play by a visiting team in Tiger Stadium.
    • In 2015, Callaway became the first true freshman in UF history and one of only six SEC true freshmen (Amari Cooper, Alshon Jeffery, Julio Jones, Christian Kirk, Calvin Ridley) since 2006 to post three 100-yard receiving games, including a season-best 112-yard outing against Tennessee.
  • Callaway became the third-fastest player in Florida football history to reach 1,000 receiving yards for his career, doing so in just 17 games.
    • Callaway has 89 career receptions through two seasons. Only Jabar Gaffney (138) and Percy Harvin (93) caught more in their first two seasons at UF since 1996.
  • In Florida’s 2016 season opener against UMass, Callaway and Brandon Powell became just the fifth UF tandem to both catch at least seven passes, tally 70-plus yards, and score a touchdown in the same game since 1996, most recently in the 2010 Sugar Bowl.
  • During each of his first two seasons at UF, six different Gators collected multiple receiving touchdowns. Prior to 2015,
  • the last time Florida accomplished that feat was in 2008.
  • Spent the 2014 season as the running backs coach at FIU in Miami and led a running backs group that rushed for nearly 1,500 yards on the season.
  • Spent the 2012-13 seasons at FAU coaching the Owls’ running backs. In 2013, FAU rushed for 2,215 yards and 21 touchdowns, both school records. The rushing attack ranked fifth in Conference USA, averaging 184.6 yards per game.
  • In his first season at FAU in 2012, Dixon’s running back group had the task of replacing the school’s all-time leading rusher, current Washington Redskin Alfred Morris. The running-back-by-committee approach succeeded, as they totaled just 38 less rushing yards and 167 more receiving yards than the previous season.
  • Dixon spent two seasons at Montana State, reaching the FCS Quarterfinals both years. He coached a running back tandem (Cody Kirk and Tray Robinson) that combined for nearly 2,000 rushing yards in 2011 and scored 21 overall touchdowns.
  • Kirk’s 1,351 yards rank fifth all-time in school history for a single season and he earned All-Big Sky First Team honors. Robinson was named the Big Sky Newcomer of the Year and earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors.
  • In 2010, Dixon tutored All-Big Sky second-team running back Orenzo Scott, who rushed for 1,126 yards and 10 touchdowns.
  • In his one season as offensive coordinator at Stillman, Dixon produced an All-American running back in Quinn Porter, who rushed for 138.6 yards per game and went on to  play for the St. Louis Rams.
  • At Texas Southern, Stillman had a pair of quarterbacks throw for over 1,000 yards in 2008. Bobby Reid totaled 1,791 passing yards with 12 touchdowns, while Cornelius Harmon threw for 1,066 yards with six scores.
  • Dixon began his coaching career at his alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, Texas. He then spent one season at Morgan State coaching the quarterbacks.
