Biography

Transferred to Louisiana Tech in the spring of 2015.

2014: Played in nine games and made six starts at quarterback, throwing for 1,140 yards with nine touchdowns on the season… Also had 180 rushing yards and four scores on the ground… Threw for a career-high 295 yards with three touchdowns in the win over Kentucky… Also threw for three scores against Eastern Kentucky, completing 9-of-11 passes for 164 yards, when he entered in relief of the injured Treon Harris… Led the team with 59 rushing yards and a touchdown at Alabama… Also led the team in rushing against LSU, totaling 71 yards on 21 carries… Completed a career-high 31 passes in the season opener against Eastern Michigan… Earned the President’s Academic Award for his work in the classroom… 2013: Started three games before suffering a season-ending fracture in his leg… Threw for 477 yards completing 42-of-63 passes in his limited action… Had career highs of attempts (33), completions (22) and passing yards (291) at Miami in week two… Suffered the injury in the first half of the game against Tennessee… Named a captain for the Toledo and Miami games… 2012: Started 12 games for the Gators, 11 at quarterback… Completed 156-of-245 passes for 1,646 yards with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions on the year… Also ran 118 times for 408 yards (3.5 avg) on the season with three touchdowns… His 408 rushing yards rank seventh in school history by a quarterback for a single season… Was second on the team in rushing… Threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Frankie Hammond at Tennessee for the longest pass of his career… Had a passer rating of 195.0 in Knoxville, the highest for a UF quarterback on the road in a conference game since Tim Tebow had a 202.7 rating at Kentucky in 2007… Was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Volunteers… Rushed 11 times for a career-high 177 yards and three touchdowns at Vanderbilt… The 177 yards rushing is a school record by a Gator quarterback, surpassing Tim Tebow’s mark of 166 yards at Ole Miss in 2007… Threw for a career-best four touchdowns against South Carolina and was the only FBS player in 2012 to have four touchdown passes and throw for less than 100 yards in the same game… Completed a pass to 10 different receivers against Kentucky… In his first career start at quarterback at Texas A&M, he was 13-of-16 passing for 162 yards and did not turn the ball over… Made his first career start against Bowling Green, lining up at wide receiver then proceeded to play the rest of the game at quarterback… Missed the Jacksonville State game due to injury… 2011: Saw action in five games as a true freshman quarterback… Completed 16-of-34 passes for 148 yards to own a 71.86 efficiency rating throughout his freshman campaign… Went 2-for-6 for 14 yards in the air against Alabama, and added a 31-yard run, the longest rush against the Crimson Tide in 2011… Played the entire second half at Auburn, throwing a season-long 22 yard pass to Chris Rainey on the last drive of the game… Made his Gator debut in the season opener against FAU and his SEC debut against Kentucky… Completed 4-of-6 passes for 42 yards in his first collegiate football game against the Owls for a 92.13 efficiency rating… Enrolled at UF in January of 2011.

Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year… Gatorade Florida Player of the Year… Rated the No. 1 quarterback nationally according to Scout.com and Rivals.com… Threw for a career 4,844 passing yards and 36 touchdowns and helped lead the Huskies to their first winning season in their fourth year as a varsity program… Had 1,819 yards and 15 touchdowns passing, 1,333 rushing yards with 20 touchdowns and caught two touchdown passes his senior year… Threw for 1,427 yards with 11 touchdowns and ran for 170 yards with five touchdowns his junior year… Participated in the Under Armour High School All-American Game in 2011… Chose Florida over Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Clemson, among others… Coached by Nate Gierke.
