What they’re saying…
(On his touchdown against Missouri): "It felt amazing. It's always good to put points on the board." (11/4/12)
Omarius Hines, UF running back
"We try to find different opportunities to get him the ball. He's a guy that's an explosive athlete and can stretch the field vertically. I've always said it's very difficult to count him, from a defensive perspective. What is he? Is he a running back? Is he a slot receiver? We've used him in tight end situations. We've used him as a fullback. So week to week we change out how we use him.” (10/10/12)
Will Muschamp, UF Head Coach
“He is a very smart kid on the field. He’s good, he understands things, and he wants more. He’s always: ‘Hey, can I do this play? Can I do that play?’ He’s a threat. He’s a weapon.” (8/27/12)
Brent Pease, UF offensive coordinator
“I can create a lot of mismatches and keep the defense on their toes. Wherever they want me, I’m there. Wherever they need me to help the team, I’m there.” (8/27/12)
Omarius Hines, UF running back
“He can create the huge, explosive plays. He can go 75-80 yards, he’s got the ability to run, he’s got strength. He’s an incredible talent, you’ve just got to use him the right way, not overload him, not burn him up, not overload him with thinking. … He’s a threat, he’s a weapon.” (8/23/12)
Brent Pease, UF offensive coordinator
“He’s a guy that you can get the ball to on the edge and he can create some things down the field. He’s an explosive athlete. He catches the ball well. He does run the perimeter runs well. There is certainly a place and a package for him with what we’re doing and he will have one.” (8/23/12)
Will Muschamp, UF Head Coach
"There's no question he is an explosive guy. And we need to get him some opportunities with the ball in his hand because he can do some things with it." (8/20/12)
Will Muschamp, UF Head Coach
“Hines has not only been one of the team leaders, but with a big body and good hands, plus the ability to block, he will be a big asset to Brantley and the offense.” (9/14/10)
Reidel Anthony, former NFL player and UF wide receiver
"I'm just trying to get better and help the team win. I'm doing whatever it takes for us to win." (9/5/10)
Omarius Hines, UF running back
“He will do a lot of the same things that UF tight end Aaron Hernandez did in 2009, but don't think of him as a carbon copy of Hernandez. Hines is much faster than Hernandez and will require defensive backs to cover him.” (9/4/10)
Joe Goodman, Miami Herald
“He’s not somebody you want to walk up on and try to push around, because you’re not going to do that.” (8/24/10)
Jeremy Brown, UF cornerback
“He’s too big for corners and he’s too fast for linebackers. So he’s that hybrid player. It’s fun … to see those little (defensive backs) trying to tackle somebody that big, and then see those linebackers try so hard but can’t even come close to catching him.” (8/24/10)
Carl Johnson, former UF offensive lineman
"Omarius has skills that will allow him to do some of the off the line of scrimmage — hybrid stuff that will create mismatch advantages for us against the defense. He's doing a great job. He's a good guy, smart, loves football and very talented. People are going to enjoy watching him play this year." (8/12/10)
Brian White, UF Running Backs Coach
