Mike Mann

Mike Mann is in his second season as the volunteer assistant coach for Florida Volleyball.

Mann, currently enrolled in UF's human performance graduate program within the applied physiology and kinesiology department, joined the Gators’ staff this summer as a camp assistant after completing his collegiate volleyball career at the University of Mount Olive in May.

A middle hitter for the Trojans men’s volleyball team, Mann graduated from Mount Olive with a bachelor of science in recreation and leisure studies: exercise science after finishing his three-year playing career.

As a senior and captain in 2016, Mann posted career-best stats in kills (1.74/s), hitting efficiency (.425) and points (203.5). Mann ranked third for the Trojans in service aces (18) and total blocks (64) his senior campaign and was an All-Conference Carolinas Third Team selection. For his work in the classroom, where Mann was a top-15 student-athlete at Mount Olive, he was named to the 2015 and 2016 Conference Carolinas All-Academic Teams, in addition to qualifying for Mount Olive's Presidential Honor Roll both of those years.

Prior to enrolling at Mount Olive in the summer of 2014, Mann served in the U.S. Army from 2009 through 2014, earning the rank of Sergeant.

During this time, Mann spent a year and a half at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif., earning an associate of arts in Arabic. After his time at the language academy, Mann spent three years in mission management for the NSA in Georgia. While there, Mann was selected to the All-Army and All-Armed Forces Volleyball teams in 2012 and 2013, earning All-Tournament honors at the 2013 U.S. Open Nationals Tournament, Division "A". He was also named the 2012 Army Group Soldier of the Year.

A native of Fallbrook, Calif., Mann played volleyball at Fallbrook Union High School. Upon graduation, he attended Grossmont College, where he was a team MVP, captain, and All-Avocado League First Team honoree in his only season there (2008).
