Gators Send 6 Individuals, 200 MR into Friday's Finals

Dressel, D'Arrigo, Switkowski qualify for tonight's 'A' FInals

ATLANTA – The University of Florida men's swimming and diving team strung together another strong preliminary performance on Friday Morning in Day Three competition at the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Overall, the Gators sent six student-athletes and the 200-Yard Medley Relay into tonight's finals.
Sophomore Mark Szaranek got the momentum going with a season-best 3:41.84 in the 400-Yard IM to finish ninth overall. The Scotland native will swim in tonight's 'A' final. Newcomers Brennan Balogh (23rd, 3:46.14) and Alex Lebed (24th, 3:46.56) also took part in the race, making their 400 IM NCAA debuts.
In the 100-Yard Butterfly, sophomore Caeleb Dressel swam an impressive 45.00 to finish second overall. The Green Cove Springs, Florida, native will have the opportunity to swim against former Bolles teammate and defending NCAA Champion, Joseph Schooling, of Texas, in tonight's 'A' final.
Junior Mitch D'Arrigo (3rd, 1:32.62) and sophomore Jan Switkowski (6th, 1:32.99) will compete in tonight's 'A' finals after clocking season-best times in the prelims. Senior Pawel Werner also had a strong showing, swimming to a season-best 1:33.77 to finish 12th overall to qualify in tonight's 'B' final.
In addition, Main (23rd, 1:34.90), senior Austin Manganiello (1:35.36) and sophomore Ben Lawless (39th, 1:36.71) each posted season-best times but did not qualify for tonight's finals session.
Junior Jack Blyzinskyj rounded out Friday's preliminary events, posting a 45.96 which currently puts him in 12th place. The Weston, Massachusetts, native will compete in tonight's 'B' final.
Florida's 200-Yard Medley Relay closed out Day Three prelims. The foursome of Blyzinskyj, Dressel, Main, and Switkowski clocked a time of 1:24.70 to finish second in their heat and tied-sixth overall. The group will compete in tonight's 'A' final.
