Four Gators logged times and marks that rank inside the Division I top 10 at the LSU Invitational
BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Florida track and field program once again dealt with a lengthy rain delay, this one lasting over three hours at the LSU Invitational, but turned in a handful of noteworthy performances on Saturday (April 30).
Senior Claudia Francis broke 52 seconds in the outdoor 400 meters for the first time in her career, clocking the No. 7-ranked time on the program's all-time outdoor top 10 (51.55). Francis, who is now on UF's outdoor top 10 in four different events, also teamed up with Sharrika Barnett, Taylor Sharpe, and Robin Reynolds to run 3:29.80 in the 4x400-meter relay, tying the No. 7 time on the outdoor top 10.
In her first 200 meters race of the year, redshirt junior Kyra Jefferson clocked in at 22.79 seconds. Jefferson's opener ranks 10th nationally and fourth in the East Region this year.
Jumpers KeAndre Bates and Darrielle McQueen both turned in impressive marks. Bates leapt 7.95 meters, tying the No. 3 long jump mark in Division I this year, while McQueen topped her previous all-conditions triple personal record by 15 inches, getting all the way out to 13.30 meters. McQueen is now the No. 6-ranked triple jumper in Division I this year.
The Gators also wrapped up competition at The Penn Relays on Saturday. The men's 4x400 relay team of Kunle Fasasi, Arman Hall, Ryan Clark, and Najee Glass won the championship race by nearly three seconds, collecting UF's third victory in its three days in Philadelphia.
Florida now has roughly two weeks before the SEC Championships get underway on May 12 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

HEARING OUT (COACH) HOLLOWAY
Florida track and field head coach Mike Holloway on the performance of the group that went to The Penn Relays…
"I wasn't looking for times. I just wanted them to come up here, enjoy themselves, and embrace the competition. I'm very proud of what Taylor Tubbs did in the 5,000 meters. Honestly, I thought everybody did wonderful job."
On the group that competed at the LSU Invitational…
"We had some people who did a good job. KeAndre Bates went over 26 feet in the long jump, Claudia (Francis) with a huge PR in the 400, an ok opener for Kyra (Jefferson) in the 200, Darrielle (McQueen) did a good job in the triple jump. Very proud of the girls in the 1,500 (meters)—Elisabeth (Bergh) and Amber Johnson did a great job. And I'd like to congratulate Jack Guyton on his PR in the 800.
"But we've got a lot of work to do. There were a lot of areas where we could've engaged and got better that we didn't take advantage of. We're going to get back to Gainesville and get rested up, because we've got one of the toughest meets in the country coming up in Alabama in a couple weeks."
