Gator Soccer Loses 2-1 at Texas A&M Thursday

This the first Texas A&M win over UF in College Station since joining the Southeastern Conference for the 2012 season. Florida is now 3-2 all-time against TAMU in College Station.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Two goals from distance gave Texas A&M a 2-1 win over Florida soccer Thursday in front of an Ellis Field crowd of 2,345.
 
How the Goals Were Scored:
The Aggies scored off a throw-in the in the 34th minute. Emily Bates found Cienna Arrieta, who had entered the match less than two minutes prior, who took a low, driving shot from 35 yards that scored at the upper slot.


Florida found the equalizer early in the second half off a give-and-go. Deanne Rose touched the ball the Gabby Seiler just inside the top of the Aggie half and then headed toward goal. Seiler returned the pass to Rose, now at the top of the box surrounded by Aggie defenders and goalkeeper Cosette Morche off her line. Rose was able to just get her foot on the ball to send the chip into the goal in the 47th minute.
 
The Aggies regained the lead 19 minutes later off a long free kick. Kendall Ritchie left-footed shot scored from 45 yards. It was the latest goal given up by the Gators this season.
 
Worth Noting
  • Rose has three consecutive goals for Florida. She scored twice Sunday in Florida's 2-1 win at Iowa State and today scored the Gators' goal in the 47th minute. She is now second among the Gators with four goals and nine points.
  • This the first Texas A&M win over UF in College Station since joining the Southeastern Conference for the 2012 season. Florida is now 3-2 all-time against TAMU in College Station.
  • Florida's Kaylan Marckese equaled her collegiate high of six saves for the second consecutive match and the seventh time of her Gator career.
  • TAMU now leads the all-time series 7-6.
