Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats SMU, 134-100

The 10th-ranked Florida men's swimming and diving team defeated the SMU Mustangs by a score of 134-100 at the Perkins Natatorium on Thursday.
Florida had top-place finishers in nine of the 13 events swam in the meet. Senior Ricardo Monasterio (Caracas, Venezuela/Instituto Edu. Asociados) led the Gators, winning two events, the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:15.90 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:31.15. Junior diver Hank Richardson (Houston, Tex./Memorial) won both of the meet's diving events. He won the one-meter springboard with a score of 297.15 and the three-meter springboard, scoring 340.87 points.
The Gators improve to 5-4 on the season with the win. The team will return to the pool on Friday when it competes in the Dallas Morning News Classic.
