Hunley named Defensive Line Coach

Hunley, 39, coached the defensive line at Missouri from 1994-96 and was associate head coach and linebackers coach for the Tigers from l997 through the 2000 season. He worked with Gator defensive coordinator Jon Hoke when Hoke was on the Missouri staff. Prior to joining the Missouri staff he was a graduate assistant coach at Southern California from 1992- 93.
"Coach Hunley has a proven track record as a coach at Southern California and Missouri," said Spurrier. "He is also an excellent recruiter who recruited the State of Florida for Missouri. We are very impressed with him and believe he is a perfect fit for our coaching staff."
Hunley was a two-time All-America linebacker for the University of Arizona in l982- l983, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in l997. He was the seventh overall pick in the l984 NFL draft and played linebacker for the Denver Broncos in Super Bowls XXI and XXII. He played seven seasons in the NFL with Denver, Phoenix and the LA Raiders. He also served as executive vice-president and board member of the NFL Players' Association.
He replaces Rod Broadway as Florida's defensive line coach. Broadway accepted the same position at the University of North Carolina prior to the Sugar Bowl, but remaining on the Gator staff to coach in that game.
Hunley and his wife, Camille, have two daughters: Alexis (9) and Kenady (7).
