UF Volleyball To Host First Weekend of NCAA Play

The No. 7 Florida volleyball team (25-1) has been selected the No. 10 Seed in the 2001 NCAA Volleyball Championships, earning its 11th consecutive appearance (1991-2001) in the 64-team NCAA Championship bracket, NCAA officials announced Monday afternoon.
The Gators will play host to the first and second rounds, taking on Florida A&M at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Also playing at the Gainesville site will Florida International vs. Central Florida at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The winners of the two first round matches will play at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
Nebraska (27-1) is the highest seed in the region. Pepperdine (7), Florida (10) and Colorado State (15) are the other seeded teams in the region
"To get a No. 10 seed and host, we couldn't have asked for more," Gator head Coach Mary Wise said following the announcement. "With the mandate from the NCAA, we could have easily been shipped out. We're thrilled to be playing at home."
The Gators clinched their ninth automatic berth into the post-season tournament with an exciting five-game win over Arkansas in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. South Carolina (20-5) and Arkansas (23-9) also will represent the SEC. UF is 9-1 against the entire field and 4-0 against teams in the region this season.
Tickets will be on sale Tuesday Nov. 27 at the University Athletic Association Ticket Office. Until Thursday, tickets must be purchased in a package, which includes all three matches. Prices are $10 for general admission, $6 for students and senior citizens, and $4 for children 12 and under. Individual event tickets can be purchased starting Thursday for $6 for general admission, $5 for students and senior citizens, and $3 for children 12 and under.
