Women's Golf Leads Florida Women's Collegiate

The University of Florida Lady Gator golf team is currently leading the Florida Women's Collegiate Golf Tournament after the first round at Don Shula's Golf Resort (par 72, 6,238) on Friday. The Lady Gators shot a 301 in the first round. The team's score is the second lowest of the season. The Lady Gators shot a 297 in the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational in October. The host school Miami is in second after the tournament's first round with a team score of 303.
"They played well," Florida head coach Jill Briles-Hinton said. "We've been working hard and things are coming together. We just have to keep working and stay on top of things and see how it goes."
Sophomore Brittany Straza (Fort Myers, Fla./Lehigh) is tied for third overall with a one-over par 73. Freshman Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla./Countryside) was just one stroke behind Straza, shooting a 74, putting her in a tie for eighth. Dick's 74 ties for her second best round of the season. Next up for the Lady Gators was sophomore Jeanne Cho (Boulogne, France/St. Stephen's Episcopal School) who shot a 76, tying her for 15th overall. Sophomore Sam Zausner White (Rockville, Md./The Bullis School) and redshirt freshman Joy Stephenson (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) each tied for 27th-place overall, shooting a 78. Stephenson's score ties for her lowest of the season.
The second round will be held on Saturday, March 31, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. The tournament's final round will be held on Sunday, also beginning at 7:30 a.m.
