Wu ties NCAA Record, Gators surge up leaderboard to T11 with 3-under round
Saturday, May 23, 2026 | Women's Golf
Sophomore Siuue Wu tied the NCAA National Championship single round record in relation to par with an 8-under 64 and Gators tied their second-lowest team round (-3) at the tournament all-time, moving up 12 spots in round two.
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Florida women's golfer Siuue Wu etched her name into the record books with an 8-under 64 to tie the NCAA National Championship record for a single round in relation to par as the No. 3 Gators shot 3-under and climbed 12 spots into T11 in round two on Saturday. Florida is four shots inside the top-15 54-hole cut tomorrow and four shots back of the top-8 match play cut scheduled for Monday.
UF made a 12-shot swing - best among the field - from their opening round (+9) and recorded 285 (-3) to produce a 36-hole score of 582 (+6). After sitting at 3-over through the first six holes, the Gators fought back going 4-under the rest of the way, including a 7-under and bogey-free stretch across holes 10-13. The Gators didn't count one of their three bogeys on the back nine until their 20th counting hole.
The 3-under is tied for the program's second-lowest round by par at the National Championship and marks the second time UF shot that score second round of the tournament with the first being in 1988. It is the third 3-under round and the fourth under par round all-time as the record is 9-under in the final round in 1988 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Wu was bogey-free in her second career round at nationals and now owns the second-lowest round by score and par (64, -8) in program history and set the new low at the National Championships. She previously tied the second-lowest round (65) all-time this year at the Gators Invitational and now owns the No. 2 and 3 spots in UF history.
The record setting round ties her with Catherine Park (USC) in 2023 and Megan McChrystal (LSU) in 2010.
A sophomore, Wu started her record round with one of eight birdies. She made the turn 3-under and bogey-free, and kept early momentum rolling. The Hong Kong native logged back-to-back birdies to start her back nine and in her first eight holes, she went birdie-birdie-par-birdie-par-par-birdie-birdie. The 64 was only two shots shy of the program record by score or par, set by Sierra Brooks in 2018 (62, -10). Wu improved her round one score by 12 strokes, and climbed 106 spots up the leaderboard to sit T7, and two shots back of the individual lead.
Florida's one-two-punch bounced back by multiple shots with strong even-par 72s from Paula Francisco and Megan Propeck. Improving by four strokes from round one, Francisco regrouped from a bumpy start that featured three bogeys in her first five holes. The 2026 SEC Individual Champion shot 3-under and bogey-free in her final 13 holes.
Playing in her fourth National Championship, Propeck was better by three-shots this morning. Making the turn 1-over, the 2026 SEC Newcomer of the Year went 1-under on the second nine.
The final counting round was 77 (+5) as both Katelyn Huber and Elaine Widjaja each posted the mark.
Florida tees off round three tomorrow at 10:47 a.m. and are paired with Arizona State and defending National Champion, Northwestern. After the third round, the top-15 teams on and nine individuals on a non-advancing team earn a spot and play in the final round of stroke play on Monday.
Following the final 18 holes, the top-8 teams will advance to match play and a 72-hole individual national champion is crowned. The team national champion will be determined by a match-play format featuring the quarterfinals and semifinals conducted on Tuesday, followed by the finals on Wednesday.
Post Round Quotes - Head Coach Emily Glaser
On the team's performance and bounce back from yesterday…
"I am really proud of the group. It's what we talked about after the round yesterday. We knew that we didn't get off to the best start, but these weeks are long. Even though we knew it wasn't our best day yesterday, we knew were still very much in it. We talked about clawing our way back and knowing that we didn't have to do it all in one day. We had to get a little momentum and that's what we got out of today. I'm proud of them for fighting and looking forward to tomorrow."
On message to team after today's round…
"I really appreciated that we followed our plan for the day and certainly Siuue Wu's round helped us out. I thought they did a good job of grinding because I don't even think any of them would tell you it always felt great today, but they were gutsy, and we talked about being fresh and mentally ready to go tomorrow."

On walking and being with Siuue Wu during his round…
"From tee to green, she played flawless. I believe she missed two fairways, and one green, and was just a foot off on the fringe and still putted it. She had a great plan and was committed to every shot. What really stood out to me was her process. There was no hesitation, there was no delay. She would pick her number, do her calculations, pick the club, and then take her target and go. There was no time for doubt, there was no time for fear. She was committed, confident, and aggressive, and it paid off, and then the putter was hot, and it just kept rolling. When she made the turn bogey-free with three birdies on the card, and then birdies ten and eleven, you knew it was going to be her day. As an assistant coach, I am extremely proud and grateful to be by her side and get a front row seat."
