NCAA Track Championships Qualifiers Announced

The NCAA announced the final list of accepted athletes for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this evening in Indianapolis. The Florida Gators are well represented on both the men's and women's lists. The fourth-ranked men's team will have nine athletes competing in eight events and two relays while the 22nd-ranked women's team will have 12 athletes compete in eight individual events and two relays.
Freshman Rickey Harris, the NCAA indoor 400m champion, is automatically qualified in the 400m hurdles, holding the nation's second fastest time. Geno White (400m) is also in the Top 10 in his event. Senior Stephen Jones also holds an automatic mark in the 110m hurdles (ranked ninth). Matt Vincent in the high jump and Moise Joseph in the 800m are the men's team final automatic qualifiers. The women's team is led by the 4x100m relay team whose time leads the nation. The 4x400m relay team is also ranked in the Top 6. School record holder Jukina Dickerson will automatically advance to the meet in the hammer throw.
