Wednesday, June 17, 2026 | Track and Field
2026 marks the third time that the women’s program has finished in the top-three of the standings.
NEW ORLEANS – After the conclusion of the NCAA cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field championships, Florida women's track & field finished second in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Program of the Year standings.
The Gators ended with 12.5 points after placing fifth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, fifth at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and runner-up at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Oregon, which finished third in cross country, runner-up in indoor track & field and fourth in outdoor track & field, claimed the Terry Crawford Women's Program of the Year.
This achievement marks the third time since the award's inception in the 2008-09 season that the Gators have finished in the top three, joining the 2009-10 team (second) and the 2023-24 squad (first).
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at their respective Championships.
In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each Championship in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner. Ties among schools split points for positions taken.
