"It was a good second day," UF head coach Andy Jackson said. "We only lost one match that we played and it was close and Olivier [Levant] could have won it. I'm encouraged by what we're seeing in this first tournament."
Eleazar Magallan has advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Division I Singles flight, posting wins on Saturday over Vince Baudet of South Alabama and Oliver Foreman of Middle Tennessee. Magallan will next face No. 2 seed Romain Ambert of Mississippi State on Sunday at 10:00 am.
Gators Matt Behrmann and Ryan Sherry are both in the Division III quarters. Behrmann posted wins today over Roberto Fernandez of East Tennessee State and Tanner Hadden of UNC-Greensboro while Sherry topped Ziatko Stupavski of South Alabama in his lone match today. Both play at 11:00 am on Sunday and could meet in the semifinals.
In the Division IV Singles draw, Gainesvillian Trey Johnson reached the quarters this morning with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Bo McWhorter of UNC- Greensboro while fellow Gainesville native Chris McDonald reached the quarters with a three set victory over Paul Goode of UNC-Greensboro.
In Division I doubles action, McDonald and Mirazdeh saved three match points in a 9-7 win while Levant and Magallan, seeded second, post a 8-5 win. In the Division II draw, Behrmann and Sherry were 9-8 (3) winners to advance to Sunday's quarterfinals.
