MTen Doubles Team Falls in SEC Indoor Final

The Gator tandem were defeated, 8-6, by Mark Dietrich and Peter Handoyo of Tennessee. Levant and Magallan had won four straight matches over the weekend to reach the final, including a 9-7 upset win over top-seeded Andrew Colombo and Tiago Ruffoni of Auburn, the nation’s fifth-ranked team, in Saturday night’s semifinals.
“It was a very good experience for Eleazar and Olivier,” UF head coach Andy Jackson said. “They had one particularly outstanding win yesterday versus Auburn and played solid the rest of the tournament. I’m encouraged by what we’re seeing as we get ready for the team matches, which is what it is really all about.”
The Gators will play their season opener on Friday, Jan. 25 when they welcome UCF to Gainesville at 4:00. UF will also host the Furman Paladins this Saturday at 2:00 pm.
