Lady Gators Finish T10th at TRW Regional Challenge

The University of Florida Lady Gator golf team finished the 2002 TRW Regional Challenge in a tie for 10th place with a three-round 923 (308-314-301), moving up seven places from its 17th place finish after round two. Tulsa won the tournament with a three-day total of 870 (283-292-295).
Individually, Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.) led the Gators, finishing 17th overall after carding a three-round 224 (79-69-76). Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) finished one stroke behind Straza with a 225 (75-78-72). Joy Stephenson (Ft. Myers, Fla.) finished tied for 61st place, turning in a 78-84-74--236, while Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) carded a 240 (76-85-79) to finish tied for 67th. Freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) rounded out Florida's scoring with a 79-83-80--242 to tie for 75th place.
Florida will host the 30th annual SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational beginning Friday, Feb. 22. The three-day tournament begins at 8 a.m. Friday through Sunday, with a shotgun start on Sunday. The 15-team field features schools from the SEC and ACC as well as members of other conferences. The participating teams are: Alabama, Arkansas, Central Florida, Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Florida and Vanderbilt.
