UF’s two ranked doubles teams were beaten to open the match with 26th ranked Chris McDonald and Hamid Mirzadeh losing 8-0 at No. 1 and Levant and Magallan, ranked 18th, lost their match at No. 2 by a 8-3 score. Keith From and Ante Matijevic completed the Aggie sweep with a 9-8 (2) win at No. 3.
Singles play saw the Gators earn a 3-3 split from the higher ranked Aggies, highlighted by Behrmann’s 6-3, 6-3 win over 80th ranked Jarin Skube of Texas A&M. For Behrmann, a junior from Indianapolis who attended Saddlebrook Prep School in Wesley Chapel, Fla., it was his second career win over a ranked opponent and his first since beating No. 67 Tomas Smid of Miami on Oct. 27, 2000. Magallan took his match at No. 2 by a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 score over over 63rd ranked Lester Cook. Olivier Levant was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at No. 3 for Florida over From. The tussle at No. 6 proved decisive as with the Aggies already up 3-2, Khaled El Dorry topped the Gators’ Ross Greenstein 6-3, 4- 6, 6-2.
Florida returns to action next Sunday when the Gators travel to Houston to face the No. 43 Rice Owls at noon ET on Feb. 24.
